CMSI order portal
This portal is used to submit project requests to Chalmers Mass Spectrometry Infrastructure (CMSI), a SciLifeLab-affiliated research infrastructure providing metabolomics, lipidomics, targeted and untargeted mass spectrometry services, laboratory access, instrument training, and analytical support.
Before you submit your request, please contact CMSI Staff to discuss which form best matches your needs. Visit one of our drop-ins (Wednesdays at 13.00 on odd weeks) or email cmsi@chalmers.se.
• Analysis Request – CMSI performs the analysis for you using established methods.
• Consultation and Meeting Request – You would like to discuss a project, idea, or analytical challenge.
• Method Development Request – A suitable analytical method does not yet exist or requires development or optimisation.
• Instrument and Laboratory Access Request – You would like to use CMSI instruments or laboratories yourself using an established method.
If you are unsure which form to choose, submit a Consultation and Meeting Request.
Choose this form if you would like to discuss a project or analytical challenge with CMSI before deciding on the most appropriate service.
Examples include study design, selection of analytical methods, metabolomics and lipidomics strategies, feasibility assessments, funding applications, laboratory access, instrument training, or general scientific consultation.
No detailed project plan is required at this stage.
Choose this form if you would like CMSI to perform analytical measurements on your samples using an established method or workflow.
Examples include metabolomics, lipidomics, PFAS analysis, targeted quantification, and other routine mass spectrometry services.
If you want to perform the analyses yourself in our labs and need lab access, training, or help with method development, please use the other forms.
CMSI will review the request, discuss the analytical strategy with you if needed, and provide a quotation.
Choose this form if you would like to access CMSI laboratories or instruments for self-service use.
This form is for researchers who already have an analytical method that can be implemented directly on our open lab instruments.
If your project requires any form of method development, optimisation, validation, or feasibility assessment, please submit a CMSI Method Development Request instead.
Choose this form if you want help setting up a new method for use on our open lab instrument. This may be because no suitable analytical method currently exists, an existing method must be adapted or transferred, or substantial development work is required before analysis can be performed.
Examples include:
• New compounds or analytes
• New sample types or matrices
• Method optimisation or validation
• Transfer of methods between platforms
• Feasibility studies for new analytical approaches
CMSI will assess the scientific and technical feasibility of the proposed work and discuss the required resources.
